The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) New Era has described death of the renowned Islamic preacher, Sheikh Muyideen Ajani Bello, as great loss to the entire Muslim community in Yorubaland.

The Islamic clergy died on Friday, December 6, 2024, after a brief illness and has been buried according to Islamic rites.

OPC New Era in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, mourned the death of the great Islamic scholar.

The group extended its condolences to the Muslim community, family of Bello, the people of Ibadan, Oyo State and Yorubaland.

OPC New Era described Sheik Bello as a great man who contributed immensely to the promotion of Islam in Nigeria and particularly ,in Yorubaland.

The group maintained that the vacuum his demise has created will be difficult to fill, as his words and actions served as a source of inspiration and direction for many Muslims across Yorubaland and Nigeria.

While acknowledging the contributions of the late Islamic preacher to the propagation of Islam in Yorubahood, Akinpelu recalled that Sheik Ajani Bello delivered this year’s Ramadan lecture organized by OPC New Era.

Akinpelu noted that his sermon at the Ramadan lecture was filled with wisdom, courage and guidance.

“Sheikh Bello’, in his teaching, urged OPC members to uphold the values of unity, love and compassion as empathized by Islam”, he added.

The OPC New Era prayed: “May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
