The Osun State government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to prioritize safe sexual practices, particularly during Valentine’s Day celebrations, by avoiding unprotected sex.
In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), Olusegun Daramola, the government announced the distribution of free condoms and lubricants at select malls and lounges across the state. This initiative aims to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and encourage responsible behavior.
Daramola emphasized the ongoing public health challenge posed by HIV/AIDS, urging residents to take precautions.
“It’s crucial to avoid risky behaviors like unprotected sex. We encourage individuals to get tested and know their status,” the statement read.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun State and working toward the goal of ending AIDS by 2030.
“To support safe practices, O-SACA will provide free condoms and lubricants at designated locations. Residents are encouraged to access these resources and promote responsible sexual health. Let’s share love, not disease,” Daramola added.
