Oyo State Acting Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal has announced that all flags in the state will be flown at half-mast for seven days to honor the late Chief Michael Koleoso, former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, who passed away peacefully on Monday at the age of 86.

The announcement was made during a condolence visit on Tuesday, where the Acting Governor led a high-profile government delegation to the family home of the deceased in Akobo, Ibadan.

In his tribute, Governor Lawal praised Chief Koleoso as a distinguished politician and a valuable source of knowledge for aspiring leaders. He acknowledged the late chief’s significant contributions to the development of Nigeria, Oyo State, and his hometown of Saki in the Oke Ogun zone.

Lawal emphasized the commitment of the state government to organizing a dignified funeral for the political icon, describing him as a progressive figure who consistently advocated for justice and equity, transcending party affiliations. The Acting Governor also noted that Chief Koleoso was a steadfast supporter of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, encouraging unity among politicians of varying backgrounds.

Among those present at the home were Chief Koleoso’s family, including his daughter, Mrs. Yemisi Baiki, who expressed gratitude to the state government for the care shown to her father during his lifetime. She marked her father’s passing as a profound loss not just to the family but to the community at large.

Special prayers were held in memory of Chief Koleoso, led by Commissioner for Information and Orientation Prince Dotun Oyelade and Commissioner for Special Duties Alhaja Faosat Sanni.

Accompanying the Acting Governor were former deputy governors Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi and Barr. Iyiola Oladokun, Secretary to the State Government Professor Olanike Adeyemo, various Commissioners, and other esteemed political figures from the state.
