The Oyo State Government, led by His Excellency, Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, has announced the commencement of enforcement actions by the Land Use Charge (LUC) taskforce on various properties within the state. This move is aligned with the 2024 Land Use Charge law and the administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
Speaking at his office in Ibadan, the Hon. Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams A. Funmilayo, emphasized the government’s stance on holding property owners accountable for unpaid Land Use Charges. The enforcement operation will begin on the 10th of June 2024, with non-compliant property owners facing property seal-offs as per the provisions of the LUC 2024 law.
Mr. Funmilayo Williams highlighted the purpose of issuing LUC bills as a means to generate revenue for public amenities, spur development, and support local governance. Stressing that the Land Use Charge is a civic duty rather than a burden, he urged property owners to meet their obligations promptly and collaborate with the taskforce during enforcement activities.
“I will personally oversee enforcement visits to properties to appeal for compliance,” stated Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, affirming that the goal is to cultivate a conducive business environment for enterprises to prosper, not disrupt operations.
Property owners can conveniently settle their Land Use Charges via the official Oyo State payment portal [https://pay.lands.oyostate.gov.ng], designated bank branches, Xpresspay platforms, or in person at the Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Development. The Commissioner cautioned against unauthorized payment channels, advising against paying any member of the enforcement team.
To streamline payment processes, the OYPRS app available on the App Store and Play Store offers a user-friendly platform to obtain payment details and facilitate transactions seamlessly.

By complying with their civic responsibilities, property owners play a vital role in advancing Oyo State towards a prosperous future.
