Oyo State Government and WaterAid are preparing to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at improving access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene in the state.

The Chairman of Oyo State Water Corporation, Hon. Elias Adeojo, announced the development after a meeting with representatives from WaterAid Nigeria.

Adeojo expressed his belief that the partnership would enhance the management of water resources in the state and praised the state government for its efforts to provide essential services to residents.

However, he highlighted the challenges faced by the Corporation due to intermittent power supply, which has affected the functionality of water schemes. Despite these difficulties, Adeojo urged WaterAid to provide its support to help restore the Corporation’s operations. In response, WaterAid Nigeria representative, Mr. Alao Adebayo, expressed the agency’s commitment to assisting Oyo State in ensuring access to clean water.

Adebayo noted that the MOU would strengthen the capacity of the Oyo State Water Corporation and mentioned that WaterAid Africa has previously supported similar projects in Lagos State. He pledged to expedite the support to the Corporation once all necessary procedures have been completed.
