The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State Council on Saturday mourned the passing unto eternal glory, Chief Patrick Olubiyi Ladapo, the father of Com. Sola Oladapo, State Secretary of the Union.
Pa Ladapo in his mid-eighties died during a brief illness at a private clinic in Ibadan on Saturday.
The deceased was a community leader and scion of famous Ladapo family of Abebi Ibadan in Ibadan North West Local Government of the State.
He was also the younger brother to the present Iyalode of Ibadanland, Mama Laduntan Oyekanmi.
In a statement issued by the NUJ Chairman, Ademola Babalola, he described the deceased as a great ‘shon of the soil’ whose demise had created a void that would be difficult to fill in Ladapo family.
The ‘last of the titans’ and fondly called Baba Ladapo, the deceased was a retired staff of University of Ibadan (maintenance department) and a rallying figure for the family.
While condoling the family of Ladapo at home and in the Disapora, Babalola urged them to take solace in the fact that Baba served God and humanity while his sojourn lasted on the planet earth.
The NUJ appealed to its bereaved State Secretary to take heart since every soul would taste death as an inevitable end of all mortals.
‘Comrade Sola Oladapo, our dear State Secretary, please be comforted that Baba’s soul would rest in peace as he would be fondly be remembered for his service to mankind and God,’ Babalola added.
