…Says Oyo deserves more recognition than presently obtainable
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has hailed President Bola Tinubu for appointing Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership.
Besides, the council also demanded more recognitions for the ‘best 11’ from Oyo State, based on contributions of the state to the electoral victory of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential poll.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of NUJ, Oyo State Council, Chief Ademola Babalola, and Secretary, Comrade Olusola Oladapo, the council noted that the state contributed more to the success of Mr President’s election and therefore deserves more recognition than it is presently obtainable.
The statement read in part: “We commend President Bola Tinubu for appointing Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the Director-General and Global Liaison for the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership. This is a honour well-deerved, because his journey has been marked by excellence.
“This spirit of excellence in him was first noticed when he graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1988 with a first-class honours in civil engineering. He went ahead to become a chartered accountant. He was a governorship aspirant in Oyo State in 2019 and also a senatorial candidate for Oyo South senatorial district in 2023.
“We have no doubt that he will bring his sterling qualities to bear on the new task, as a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
“It is our expectation that Mogaji Tegbe will not fail Nigeria towards achieving the strategic action plan between the two countries on the agreements reached in Beijing at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), held in September.”
The Oyo NUJ further noted that “The contribution of Oyo State to the success of President Tinubu during the 2023 general elections was huge. Therefore. Oyo State deserves more recognition from Mr. President. In line, with this, we appeal to Mr. President to appoint more Indigenes of Oyo State to serve in his administration.
“We have noticed that every appointment that Mr. President has made from Oyo State has added tremendous values to his administration. We have more of the high achievers that can also help Mr. President to deliver premium dividends of democracy to Nigeria and Nigerians.”
