The Oyo State Police Command, on Sunday, April 9, 2023, revealed it has started investigating the death of Olayinka ‘Khadi’ Adeshina, found dead in a hotel in Ibadan.
Olayinka Adeshina popularly known as Khadi was found dead at Wetland Hotel in the Akobo area of Ibadan on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She ran an online retail store ‘Shop With Khadi’ on Instagram where she sold clothing, shoes and fashion accessories.
Although details about her death are still sketchy but multiple sources said she had lodged in the hotel on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, with a male friend whose identity is yet to be revealed.
“Investigation has commenced into the incident,” Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo Police PRO revealed in a statement on Sunday, April 9, 2023 saying “Updates would be provided accordingly.”
Olayinka ran an Instagram store ‘Shop With Khadi’ where she sold wears, shoes and fashion accessories.
Wetland Hotel has however revealed on Sunday that it has been cooperating with the authorities with their investigation as “the matter is wholly a Police case”.
The hotel management said it has given the Police full statement and information about the incident.
“We regret to inform you that an unfortunate incident occurred at our hotel, Wetland Hotel. One of our guests passed away while staying with us,” Wetland Hotel said in a statement sent to Neusroom.
“We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation into this matter, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist the police in their efforts to determine the cause of death.”
It added: “please [be] rest assured that the safety and well-being of our guests and staff are our top priority. We have taken all necessary measures to ensure that our facilities and services continue to meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety.”
Report of her death has sparked reactions and conspiracies about her personality online following claims that she was in the hotel with a man.
