In a commendable effort to promote academic excellence and reward diligence, a distinguished alumnus of Abiodun Atiba Memorial Institute, Oyo, Mr. Babatunde Tijani (popularly known as TJ), has donated the sum of N1 million to outstanding students and staff of the school during its 44th Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Day.
Tijani, who served as the Special Guest of Honour at the event, awarded N200,000 each to the best graduating students in Science, Arts, and Commerce, as well as the overall best graduating student. He also donated the same amount to the school staff as a mark of appreciation for their commitment to academic grooming.
Announcing the donation on his behalf, Tijani’s sister, Ms. Omobola Tijani, said the gesture was made in memory of their late father, Chief Abdul-Lateef Eyitayo Tijani, who was the school’s vice principal between 1981 and 1988.
“In honour of my father and as my personal contribution to this great institution, I am delighted to present N200,000 each to the best students in Science, Arts, and Commerce. The overall valedictorian will also receive N200,000. In addition, I am extending a token of N200,000 to the principal and teachers of the school in appreciation of their unwavering commitment to student development,” he stated.
Tijani encouraged the graduating class to remain focused, resilient, and purposeful in their pursuit of academic and life goals.

“Congratulations to the class of 2025. Be steadfast, patriotic, and remember your roots. Stay curious, be resilient, and go after your dreams. The sky is your starting point,” he charged.
He also paid tribute to his former teachers, acknowledging the significant impact they had on his academic and personal journey.
Tijani is no stranger to supporting his alma mater. His previous contributions include the renovation of a six-classroom block, provision of 240 modern desks and tables, installation of a functional borehole, refurbishment of the school mosque, and sponsorship of TJ BAB’S House during inter-house sports competitions.
The school’s principal, Mr. Razak Raheem, lauded Tijani’s consistent generosity and support for the institution’s development.
“He is one of our shining lights, always giving back. His presence is felt every year, and his contributions to our infrastructure and student welfare are immeasurable. May God continue to bless and enlarge his territory,” Raheem said.
He also appreciated Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for fostering a supportive environment for educators in the state.
Addressing the graduating students, Raheem advised them to shun social vices and focus on their future.

“Secondary school is just the beginning. Pursue higher education with determination. Stay away from negative influences like drugs, cybercrime, and other societal ills. Be ambassadors of this great institution,” he urged.
A major highlight of the event was the announcement of Memunat Oyetunde as the overall best graduating student. She also clinched the award for best Science student, earning a total of N400,000. Faizat Oparemi received N200,000 as the best student in the Commercial class, while Jewel Olaoba was awarded the same amount for topping the Arts category.
In her appreciation speech, Oyetunde expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a great source of motivation.
“This award has inspired me to aim higher and continue working hard. I’m grateful for the encouragement and support,” she said.
