In a bid to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the Oyo State Government has introduced One-Way Tyre Spikes to deter motorists from driving against traffic.

A newly installed spike barrier at Idi-Ape, in Ibadan North East Local Government, has garnered widespread attention after a video demonstrating its functionality went viral on social media. The footage shows how the spikes puncture the tyres of vehicles attempting to drive in the wrong direction, showing the government’s commitment to strict traffic enforcement.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to uphold the rule of law, reduce reckless driving, and prevent road accidents caused by one-way violations. By creating this physical deterrent, government aims to instill greater discipline among road users and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

The Oyo State Government has yet to release an official statement on whether more spike barriers will be installed across other locations in Ibadan and beyond.

However, the move indicates a firm stance against traffic violations and reinforces the administration’s commitment to enforce road laws.
