OYSCATECH First Female Deputy Rector to Deliver Maiden Inaugural Lecture November 7

All is set for the first Female Deputy Rector of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, Dr. Taiwo Akinyemi to deliver the maiden Inaugural Lecture of the Institution.

Dr. Taiwo Akinyemi who holds PhD in Home Economics will deliver her inaugural lecture titled; “Wellness beyond Wealth: Enhancing Healthy Lifestyle Practices among Nigerians in Hydra-Headed Economic Hardship.”

According to the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Dr. Olubunmi Adeosun, dignitaries from within and without are expected to grace the occasion.

The Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi is therefore inviting the general public to the first inaugural lecture scheduled to hold Thursday, November 7, 2024 by 1:00 pm at the 800 Seater Hall of the Institution.

The Registrar, Mr. R.F.A. Adeniji, the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Extension, Home and Rural Economics, Dr. Gbolahan Oyelere and the Secretary, Local Organizing Committee, Dr. Muyiwa. Sadiq will be waiting to receive distinguished guests.

Dr. Taiwo Adekemi Akinyemi is the first female Deputy Rector for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.

Dr. Akinyemi holds Bachelor of Science Education (B.Sc. Edu.) in Home Economics in 1996 after which she was awarded Federal Government Scholarship on Teacher Training Programme (TTP) between 2001 and 2003 to pursue a Master’s Degree Programme at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which earned her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Home Economics in 2005.

The energetic and unwavering Taiwo Akinyemi returned to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2010 to pursue her PhD and she bagged Doctor of Philosophy in Home Economics in 2016.

The Deputy Rector joined the services of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora as Lecturer II in February 2009 and rose to the position of a Chief Lecturer in October, 2020. Dr. Akinyemi had served in various capacities in the College and has contributed significantly to the development of Oyo State College of Agricultural and Technology, Igboora.

As a passionate teacher and one of the pioneer staff in Home and Rural Economics Department OYSCATECH, Igboora, Dr. Taiwo Akinyemi has supervised over 60 National Diploma and 45 Higher National Diploma Students.

The OYSCATECH Deputy Rector has published forty articles in various national and international journals.

As researcher, she was sponsored by TETfund to attend a seminar on training of the trainers on Research Proposal writing in Ohio, USA. She also won the Institutional Based Research Grant (IBR) from TETfund in 2023.

Her teaching experience spans through primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.

The Deputy Rector is a go-getter who chaired so many committees, some of which include; Chairman, Faculty Board, 2014 to 2017, Chairman, Committee of Deans 2016 and 2017.

She equally served as Director, Academic Planning Unit in 2017, the position she held before taking another appointment as Director, OYSCATECH Global Consult for the period of two years.

The Inaugural Lecturer is up to date in her chosen career. She is a member, Home Economics Research Association of Nigeria, Member, Home Economics Teachers Association of Nigeria, Member, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Member, Registered of Society of Home Economics of Nigeria, Hospitality and Tourism Management Association and Member, National Association of Teachers of Technology. Fellow, Institute of Policy Management Development and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria.

Dr. Akinyemi remains the Vice President, University of Nigeria, Nsukka Alumni Association (Ibadan Branch) till date and Member, Ibadan Descendant Union, Igboora Branch.

Dr. Akinyemi is an Examiner to National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Council, Proctor to Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examination (JAMB).

Dr. Akinyemi is happily married to Dr. Abiodun Taiwo Akinyemi and the marriage is blessed with children.
