The personal assistant to a popular caterer and CEO in Ondo state has confessed to her gruesome murder.

Mrs. Debbie Olakunbi Adene, 54, was found dead in her home just days after celebrating her birthday. According to police sources, her personal assistant and driver conspired to kill her in order to get their hands on the money that was showered on her during the birthday celebrations.

The personal assistant, whose name has been withheld, was arrested by police detectives a few weeks after the incident. He has since confessed to the crime and is providing useful information to the authorities.

It is understood that the driver, who is currently on the run, provided the weapon used to hack Mrs. Adene to death in her residence on Oda Road in Akure.

The mother of two was discovered lifeless on her bed by her neighbors, who then alerted the caretaker of the building. Mrs. Adene had earlier entertained guests at her home, serving them assorted wine and drinks, and had even shared pictures of the event on social media.

Her husband, Mr. Dele Adene, had previously expressed concern over the delay in apprehending his wife’s killer. He said he was informed that her body was found in a pool of blood, indicating she was brutally murdered.

While the state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, could not be reached for comment, a police officer confirmed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder.
