PDP Remains Focused and Unshaken – APC’s Carnival-like Campaign Cannot Distract Us| By Hon. Kazeem Alimi

The attention-seeking headline claiming that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State is in panic mode over APC’s campaign flag-off at Bodija Market today, Friday, 8th August 2025, is both misleading and laughable.

Let it be made abundantly clear: the PDP is the ruling party in Oyo State, enjoying the trust and massive support of the people, particularly in Ibadan North, ahead of the forthcoming bye-election. We remain unbothered by the activities of an unsettled opposition party struggling with internal crises and only just commencing its campaign a week before the election.

Bringing entertainers like Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Commy Jackson and Tiri Leather does not equate to political substance or grassroots acceptance. At best, it is a carnival — an entertainment spectacle — that cannot sway the informed and discerning electorate of Ibadan North, who know the difference between governance and theatrics.

It is absurd to suggest that a ruling party, led by a performing and widely respected Governor like Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde (Fogbontolu 1), would panic over a late-starting campaign by a fragmented opposition. As the Chief Security Officer of the State, Governor Makinde remains focused on his developmental agenda and the safety of every citizen. There is no reason for panic—neither from the government nor the party.

For clarity, PDP held its campaign flag-off on Monday, 4th August 2025, and the ongoing road rehabilitation at Bodija Market was already in motion, temporarily affecting the PDP event as well. That APC has now opted to use the same location — knowing full well the construction is ongoing — speaks to poor planning, not sabotage.

Governor Makinde’s transformative achievements across Oyo State cannot be sidelined or diminished because of an opposition roadshow masked as a political campaign. Governance is not a show, and real progress cannot be blocked by noise or musical appearances.

The PDP is confident, organized, and ready for the polls on Saturday, 16th August 2025. We are not intimidated by last-minute theatrics or desperate antics. As a party in government, we do not panic — we deliver.

Any attempt by any group to incite violence or constitute a nuisance before, during, or after the election will be firmly addressed in accordance with the law. Oyo State is peaceful, and under Governor Makinde’s leadership, it will remain so.

PDP: Focused on Governance. Rooted in the People. Unmoved by Distractions.
