Daabia Mall
Daabia is a marketplace app that currently operates on the Testnet. We selected Daabia as the winner because of their continuous app improvements and their representation of a geographic area that hasn’t been covered extensively by other marketplace apps.
Daabia’s progress since their first submission to the 2023 Q1 Pi Hackathon has been remarkable. The team has shown dedication by simplifying and enhancing their user interface (UI) and introducing additional features like improved translations and a new merchant application process. This commitment to improvement aligns with Pi’s values of continuous innovation and refinement and deserves recognition and support from the network. We are delighted to see the emergence of a marketplace app like Daabia from West Africa, a region that traditionally had limited options. Pi believes in supporting projects that contribute to the diversity of global marketplaces and serve the growing global Pioneer community. We congratulate Daabia on their well-deserved win and look forward to their further development and success. You can check it out for yourself – Daabia is currently listed on the Ecosystem interface in the Pi Browser!
Pirates
The selection of Pirates as the winner is based on its usability, appealing user interface, straightforward user onboarding, and innovative integration of Pi within the game. This game is not just a concept; it is a fully functional and playable experience.
Pirates captured Pi Network’s attention due to its compelling use of Pi in its core game mechanics and in-game economy. Players can use Pi to purchase in-game “coins” and use them to buy additional lives, different characters, and more. Integrating a cryptocurrency like Pi into the core mechanics of an app, whether it is a game app like Pirates or a social media app in any other genre, is something all developers should take note of when designing their Pi app. Pirates shows how digital currencies like Pi can enhance gameplay functionality while creating engaging in-game economies. The clean and enjoyable user interface, along with clear instructions for onboarding new users, adds to its appeal. Well-designed UI plays a crucial role in the overall gaming experience, and Pirates strikes the right balance between simplicity and visual appeal, making user navigation smooth. In celebrating Pirates as the winner of the October #PiHackathon, we commend its usability, simple UI and onboarding, and integration of Pi.
