A tragic case of trust gone wrong has emerged in Delta State, following the disappearance and eventual discovery of a young lady, Osaro Festus, who was declared missing after visiting a man she had been chatting with online.
Osaro, a recent graduate, reportedly left her family home on April 20, 2025, accompanied by a female friend who had earlier come to visit. While her parents may have assumed she was stepping out with her friend, Osaro had secretly planned to meet a man she had been talking to on social media for about two months — a man identified as Joshua.
Before heading to his residence, Osaro showed caution by taking a photograph of Joshua and sending it to her friend. That picture later became the vital clue in unraveling her disappearance after she failed to return home and ceased all communication.
Despite weeks of uncertainty and worry, the photo eventually led the family and law enforcement to Joshua’s residence nearly two months later. Upon confrontation, Joshua claimed that Osaro had slipped and died during an argument. He then led authorities to a shallow grave where he had buried her body.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing, with many calling for justice and greater public awareness about the dangers of meeting strangers from online platforms.
