Edo State, Nigeria – The Edo State Police Command has arrested a father who allegedly used his 4-year-old daughter for adult content on social media. This arrest comes after a public outcry on social media about the disturbing photos of the minor posted on an Instagram account handled by the suspect.

The photos seen by reporters include those of the young girl in suggestive poses and wearing only underwear. There were also photos of the child at hotels in the company of her father and other grown men. The father had even posted a flyer with a naked photo of the child, announcing her birthday party scheduled for May 28, 2024, at a local school.

Concerned social media users feared that the minor was a victim of sexual exploitation and alerted the authorities. The Edo State Police Commissioner, CP Funsho Adegboye, promptly dispatched a tactical team to investigate and arrest the suspect.

“Within 12 hours, the father of the girl was arrested. Investigation has commenced, and further revelations will be made known to the public,” said the police spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, in a statement.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has also urged the public to refrain from sharing the photos of the child, as they constitute child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which is a crime.

“We are working on contacting Meta to bring down the accounts while we track the offenders,” the agency stated. “We urge the public to desist from further sharing unsanitized pictures of this child; you are adding to the distribution of SCAM which is also a crime.”

The case is currently under investigation, and the authorities have assured that justice will be served.
