The Oke-Odo Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, has launched an investigation into a case of kidnapping and threat to life reported by one Mr. Aderinsola Adenekan.
According to a preliminary report filed by the officer in charge of the case, CSO Nathaniel Ijaola, the victim, who resides at No. 20 Unity Street, Oke-Odo, Lagos, arrived at the station with the assistance of a good Samaritan. He reported that on March 31, 2025, at about 8 p.m., he was abducted by five unidentified men suspected to be herbalists along Old Otta Road, Oke-Odo.
Adenekan alleged that he was taken to an isolated location, blindfolded, stripped naked, and tortured by the suspects. He further claimed that the assailants threatened to behead him if he refused to submit to a traditional initiation into his family’s idol worship and the Ogboni fraternity. They also demanded that he produce his estranged and pregnant wife, Nimota Oyelakin F., who had reportedly gone into hiding.
The victim stated that the kidnappers gave him a 21-day ultimatum to comply or face dire consequences. He added that the abductors revealed they had been monitoring him since his time at his previous residence at No. 3 Odunbaku Close, Olomore, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Upon receiving the report, a team of officers from the division proceeded to the scene of the alleged incident, where they confirmed elements of the victim’s account. However, the suspects had fled the area before the police arrived.
Statements from both the complainant and an eyewitness have been documented. Police authorities say efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing and pledged that the culprits will be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, the complainant has been advised to relocate from the area for his own safety, as investigations continue.
