A police constable attached to the Mada Station Division of the Nasarawa State Police Command has reportedly taken his own life.
The officer, identified as Dogara Akolo-Moses, was seen carrying out his duties in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area earlier on the day of the tragic incident. According to eyewitnesses, he later retreated into a private room within the station and shot himself.
The gunshot alerted his colleagues, who rushed to the scene, only to find him lying in a pool of blood with his firearm beside him.
The motive behind his actions remains unknown. However, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Nasarawa State Command, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident to journalists in Lafia on Wednesday. He assured that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.
