In a swift response, the Kano State Police Command has apprehended a notorious armed robber, Hassan Iliya, and recovered a substantial amount of stolen cash, as well as two AK-47 rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition.
According to SP Abdullah Haruna Kiyawa, the spokesperson of the command, the arrest came after a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi Local Government Area, reported that a group of armed robbers had stormed his residence, attacked him, and made away with a staggering sum of Fifteen Million Naira (N15,000,000.00).
Despite the ongoing nationwide protests, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, immediately directed a team of detectives to conduct intelligence-led patrols to arrest the culprits and recover the operational weapons.
The team’s efforts paid off when they apprehended the principal suspect, Hassan Iliya, a 35-year-old resident of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, as he was attempting to escape on a motorcycle.
A search of the suspect’s belongings revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition, and a substantial amount of cash totaling Four Million, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Six Thousand Naira (N4,986,000.00).
