The Oyo State police command has confirmed the kidnapping of Benedict Akika, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by armed assailants. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Akika’s residence in Olorunda Abba, located in the Lagelu Local Government Area.

During an interview on Thursday in Ibadan, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, stated that an investigation has been initiated into the incident. “Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly,” Mr. Osifeso assured the public.

Witnesses reported that the attack on Akika’s home appeared to be well-coordinated, as gunmen overwhelmed his security staff before forcibly taking him away in a vehicle, leaving the local community in shock and fear.
