The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a young woman from an alleged armed robber and ritualist at a hotel in the Wuse area of Abuja.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, officers responded to a distress call from the hotel regarding suspicious activity in one of the rooms. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Promise Eze from Ebonyi State tied to a small chair with her mouth covered in plaster.
The victim was found unconscious and in distress, but officers acted swiftly to free her and rushed her to Wuse District Hospital, where she was revived.
Investigations revealed that Promise had checked into the hotel on January 30, 2025, with a man who identified himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State. However, during questioning, she disclosed that she had met the suspect online, where he went by the name Michael Prince and claimed to be an oil company employee in Delta State.
Initially, the suspect invited her to Delta, but when she declined, they agreed to meet in Abuja. The meeting quickly turned into a nightmare when the suspect threatened her with a dagger, tied her hands and legs, and taped her mouth shut before locking her inside the bathroom.
Before fleeing with her two mobile phones, the suspect was reportedly overheard speaking on the phone with accomplices, telling them he was regrouping before returning to “finish the job.”
The FCT Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt for the suspect.
Condemning the attack, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, urged residents, particularly young women, to be cautious when meeting people they do not know personally. He reassured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
