Mystery Surrounds Death of Ondo Police Inspector
In a separate development, the suspicious death of a 50-year-old police inspector, Yusuf Suleiman Blessing, in Ondo State has sparked controversy.
The officer, who served in the Irele Council Area, was initially reported missing for over 24 hours before his charred remains were discovered. Authorities had initially informed his family that he drowned, but disturbing contradictions later emerged.
According to a family source, police officers delivered his remains in a sealed coffin, intending to transport him for burial. However, when the family insisted on seeing the body, the officers fled, leaving both the coffin and their vehicle behind.
Upon opening the coffin, relatives were horrified to find the inspector’s body burned and his skull fractured—contradicting the drowning claim.
Reacting to the controversy, Ondo State Police Command spokesperson Funmi Odunlami confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the true cause of the officer’s death.
