President Bola Tinubu, who turns 72 on March 29, has expressed regret for not allowing newspaper organizations to generate revenue through celebratory advertorials on his birthday.

In a statement released by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu acknowledged that his decision may have hurt newspapers but explained that it was in line with the current mood in the country.

The president emphasized that he did not want government agencies to use public money for congratulatory adverts and instead encouraged well-wishers to donate money to orphanages or old people’s homes. Tinubu, who will not be hosting any birthday events, plans to reflect and dedicate himself to building a more stable and secure Nigeria.
