Quantum Plastic, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has positively impacted the lives of hundreds by distributing over 320 prosthetic limbs to the less privileged. This remarkable effort, conducted in collaboration with the Ishk Tolaram Foundation, was celebrated during the 2024 CSR empowerment program held at the company premises in Soka, Ibadan.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Joy Ugbaja, the Human Resources Manager of Quantum Plastic, highlighted the company’s commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups in society. “Our aim is to reach out to the less privileged and bring smiles to their faces,” she said.
Dr. Ugbaja explained that beneficiaries were selected purely through outreach efforts such as flyers and social media announcements. “People from across the country responded and came to our company to receive their prosthetic limbs free of charge. We believe in turning disability into ability and giving hope to those who might have lost it,” she added.
The CSR program has been a lifeline for many individuals. Dr. Ugbaja noted that accidents often result in amputations, leading to despair and even tragic outcomes. This initiative aims to restore hope and demonstrate that life can continue after such setbacks. Beneficiaries from all over Nigeria were provided custom-measured prosthetic limbs, including legs and hands, at no cost.
In her remarks, Dr. Ugbaja also appealed to the Oyo State Government to repair the road leading to Quantum Plastic’s premises. “The road is almost impassable, and it connects key locations, including Model College in the Lagelu/Idi-Ayunre Local Government area. Fixing it would greatly ease access for both our operations and the community,” she urged.
Quantum Plastic, a producer of quality products such as film nylon, shrink nylon, ropes, shopping bags, and toothbrushes, continues to set an example of corporate responsibility. Dr. Ugbaja expressed her gratitude to the company’s management team for their unwavering dedication to improving lives.
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
The impact of this initiative was evident in the testimonies of beneficiaries. Mrs. Love Mba from Abia State expressed her disbelief and joy. “I never thought I would walk again. This program has changed my life,” she said.
Similarly, Mr. Adelaja Adewole from Oyo State praised the company’s vision. “My hand was amputated long ago, and I thought I would never regain functionality. With this prosthetic limb, I can now contribute meaningfully again,” he shared.
Quantum Plastic’s 2024 CSR program stands as a powerful reminder of how businesses can make a tangible difference in society, turning challenges into opportunities for hope and renewal.
