Social media has been buzzing with rumors of a separation between Folorunsho and Modupe Alakija, Nigeria’s wealthiest couple who have been married for 45 years.

However, sources close to the family claim that it is merely a misunderstanding between the couple, and not a formal separation or divorce.

They argue that a marriage that has thrived for decades and produced successful children cannot simply collapse overnight. Additionally, the lack of an official statement from the couple suggests that the rumors circulating on social media are untrue, potentially spread by malicious individuals.

Nevertheless, various stories have emerged on social media platforms in the past 48 hours, claiming that Folorunsho and Modupe Alakija have indeed separated. According to one report by The Will, the billionaire businesswoman and her husband are no longer living together in their lavish matrimonial home in Ikoyi, Lagos. It is alleged that the couple has been embroiled in frequent arguments, which prompted Folorunsho to request privacy in her own home.

As a result, her husband was purportedly forced to find alternative accommodation in the same neighborhood. Sources close to the couple reveal that they have been presenting a united front in public due to their social status, but their relationship has been anything but smooth sailing for a number of years.

The Will further claims that Folorunsho Alakija, once a prominent social figure and now a gospel minister, is currently experiencing a devastating marital crisis, as she and her husband have supposedly separated. It is reported that Modupe no longer spends nights in their Ikoyi home, indicating a significant strain in their relationship. Allegedly, ongoing disputes between the couple have led Folorunsho to demand a high level of privacy within her own home.
