Before his untimely death, 25-year-old Olugbemi was a rising star in the boxing world, training hard to make a name for himself. Tragically, his life was cut short on Monday night when Giroux, 36, allegedly shot him multiple times in the area of Meadowmist Way and Stehlik Drive in Odenton, Maryland.
According to court documents, surveillance footage shows Giroux walking directly towards Olugbemi with a handgun and opening fire, shooting him multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Baltimore, Olugbemi did not survive the attack.
Giroux has since confessed to the shooting, which occurred on June 18. The victim’s brother, Abraham Olugbemi, revealed that Giroux had threatened Isaiah Olugbemi with a gun on at least two previous occasions this year – once in January and again in June.
On Thursday, an Anne Arundel County judge decided that Giroux will be held without bond as the case moves forward. The investigation has revealed that Giroux fired between six to 14 shots at Olugbemi, paused, and then fired at least three more times.
