Security agencies will ensure Nigeria remain united, peaceful–GOC

Maj.-Gen. Obinna Onubogu, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army (NA), has said that security agencies in Nigeria would continue to ensure the country remains united and peaceful.

The GOC, stated this at 2 Division Headquarters, while receiving the State Director of Security (SDS), Department of State Services, Oyo State Command, Rasheed Adelakun, on a courtesy visit on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Lt.-Col. Polycarp Okoye, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations,2 Division Nigerian Army,made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan.

General Onubogu appreciated the DSS director for visiting, noting that the synergy and cooperation from his team have remained major contributing factors to the relative calm in Oyo State.

He layed emphasis on the incidences of Yoruba nation agitation as well as activities of bandits within the state and environs.

The GOC said that successes recorded were as a result of effective synergy and collaborative efforts amongst the Nigerian Army, the state DSS and other security agencies in the state.

“I am really glad that you are here, as I believe that the combined and main effort of all relevant security agencies in the state is to ensure that Nigeria remains one, united and peaceful”, the GOC added.

He urged the new DSS state director to bring his vast experiences to bear in Oyo State in order to ensure improved security within the state and beyond.

“On our part, we are always ready and willing to support all efforts towards ensuring that security is well improved and sustained”, the GOC said.

Earlier,the Oyo State DSS Boss, said that the aim of his visit was to familiarise himself with personnel of the Division and as well improved security within Oyo State and beyond.

Adelakun expressed appreciation to the GOC for the warm reception given to him and his team.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the service to work closely with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state in general to foster effective cooperation and collaboration in areas of operations and other administrative matters.

“I pledge that I will not only maintain the existing synergy and cooperation established by my predecessor; rather, I will consolidate on it reasonably.

“Information will be shared timely with effective cooperation and collaboration in order to foster a well secured environment, conducive enough to foster peaceful atmosphere, security and stability for improved economic growth and development in Oyo State and Nigeria at large,” the GOC said.
