In a compelling response to the widely circulated video capturing Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu apprehending a soldier and four others for traffic violations, a Nigerian soldier, identified as General Salawu on TikTok, expressed his disapproval of the governor’s actions.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday, January 2, when Governor Sanwo-Olu took matters into his own hands, arresting the soldier and his companions for violating traffic regulations along the Lagos-Badagry route.

In a video that has since gone viral, General Salawu conveyed his dissatisfaction with the governor’s choice of words, particularly taking offense to the soldier being labeled a ‘useless boy.’ The soldier argued that such derogatory remarks were unwarranted, especially when uttered in the presence of civilians.
Asserting that the governor lacked the authority to demean a soldier in public, General Salawu highlighted a perceived double standard. He contended that if the incident had occurred near the soldier’s barracks, the governor would not have been able to make an arrest with such ease.
