●PFAN wants soldiers who humiliated Eagles W’Cup star Nwofor probed
Former Super Eagles striker Uche Nwofor experienced a distressing incident at Artillery Barracks 302 in Onitsha, Anambra State, where soldiers allegedly humiliated him by forcefully shaving off his dreadlocks.
The Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria Task Force, led by Chairman Harrison Jalla, plans to address the issue by writing a strong letter to the Chief of Army Staff, demanding a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Nwofor expressed shock and disbelief at the soldiers’ actions, emphasizing that he was not involved in any criminal activity and was simply enjoying time with friends at the barracks. The incident has sparked outrage among the football community, with players like Victor Obinna Nsofor and Elvis Chisom Chikatara condemning the soldiers’ behavior.
Nwofor, who had a successful career representing Nigeria at various levels, including the U-20 World Cup in Colombia and the Brazil 2014 World Cup, is described as a gentleman by his peers. The football community is calling for justice and accountability for the dehumanizing treatment he endured, emphasizing that such actions should not go unpunished.
