The new Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Ayodele Sonubi, on Thursday assumed duty and sought the collaboration of stakeholders across the state to curb crimes and criminality.
Speaking during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, Sonubi assured residents of the state of the police command’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property.
The seasoned police officer with years of experience promised to build on the achievements of his predecessor, noting that his administration would prioritize community policing and engagement.
“I solicit the support and cooperation of the public in achieving my goals,” Sonubi said, emphasizing the importance of timely information sharing and collaboration between the police and the community.
The new commissioner also announced plans to strengthen the command’s intelligence-gathering capabilities and improve response times to distress calls.
Sonubi assured that his team would work tirelessly to address the concerns of residents, including the rising cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism in some parts of the state.
“I am optimistic that my leadership will bring a new era of peace and security to Oyo State,” he said.
Before his new rank as Commissioner of Police, Sonubi was the erstwhile Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku.
