In a remarkable display of generosity, the Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes working at Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH) recently commissioned a state-of-the-art staff building complex valued at N15,776,030. The building, constructed in honor of Dr. Ariyo Olusanjo Okunlola, the former deputy rector, was officially handed over in a ceremony held at the institution’s 800-seater hall on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

The commissioning of the staff building complex was carried out on behalf of the Oyo State Government by Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, the Hon. Commissioner for Education Science and Technology in Oyo State. During the ceremony, Prof. Adelabu praised the initiative of the Ibarapa Staff Indigenes, highlighting the significant contribution of the building towards enhancing educational infrastructure in the state.

The President of the Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes, Mr. Peter Oladokun, presented the keys of the building to the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in sustaining educational institutions. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Safara Agbogun for his vision and encouragement in embarking on the project, noting the invaluable support received from various stakeholders.

The rector of OYSCATECH, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi, lauded the donation by the Ibarapa Staff Indigenes, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on addressing staff office shortages at the institution. He called on individuals, groups, and well-meaning individuals to support educational advancement by contributing to projects such as classroom construction, lecture halls, and ICT facilities.

Dr. Ariyo Okunlola, in response to the honor bestowed upon him, expressed gratitude to the Ibarapa Staff Indigenes and encouraged continued efforts towards progress and development. The former Bursar, Dr. Sarafa Agbogun, highlighted the importance of unity and dedication among staff members and called for ongoing support for educational initiatives.

The event, attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, and esteemed guests, showcased the community’s commitment to investing in education and infrastructure development. The spirit of collaboration and generosity exhibited by the Ibarapa Staff Indigenes serves as a testament to the power of collective action in advancing educational goals and fostering growth.
