Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, at his palace in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Igboho, who was warmly welcomed by the monarch and his wife, Olori Olusola Alao, used the opportunity to express appreciation for the royal father’s consistent support throughout his ordeal with Nigerian security agencies.
During the visit, the activist pleaded with the traditional ruler to use his influence to facilitate the removal of his name from the federal government’s wanted list. Igboho, who has been entangled in legal and security challenges since his 2021 arrest and detention in Benin Republic, emphasized his desire for peace and resolution.
“I want to sincerely thank Kabiyesi for standing by me during my trials. I am pleading with you, sir, to kindly do all you can to help clear my name from the wanted list. I desire to live freely in my fatherland,” he said.
The visit comes amid renewed calls by Yoruba self-determination activists for government dialogue and peaceful resolution of the grievances that led to the agitation for an independent Yoruba nation.
A video of the visit, which has surfaced online, shows the monarch receiving Igboho with open arms and engaging in a brief private conversation with him.
