The South West Guild of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has elected new executives to steer its affairs, with Bisi Oladele, a former Southwest Bureau Chief of The Nation newspaper, emerging as Chairman.

During a meeting held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Iyaganku, Ibadan, members also appointed Dapo Falade as Vice Chairman, Taiwo Oluwadamilare as Secretary, and Joseph Okuwofu as Assistant Secretary. Other officials include Temi Aboderin as Financial Secretary and Remi Oladoye as Public Relations Officer (PRO).

Tunde Busari coordinated the selection process and urged the new leadership to uphold the association’s values and work towards its progress.

The immediate past chairman, Olayinka Agboola, pledged his continued support to the new executives, emphasizing his willingness to offer guidance and collaboration.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman Bisi Oladele expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and his team.

“We recognize the challenges ahead, but with the support of past executives and members, we are confident in achieving our goals,” he said.

Oladele commended Agboola’s dedication over the past nine years, highlighting his efforts in expanding SWEGOP’s membership and strengthening the association. He also announced the dissolution of the House, a fresh membership registration, and the introduction of new rules and regulations for engagement within SWEGOP.

The new chairman called for unity and collaboration among members to drive the association forward.
