Toronto College Appoints Prince Segun Akanni Overseas Admission Officer

A Toronto-based institution, The Great Lakes College of Toronto, has named Prince Segun Akanni, the Publisher of The Drum Online Media, as its Overseas Admission Officer.

This appointment was announced in a letter signed by the school’s management.

According to the letter, the appointment will take effect from November 1, 2024, and run through October 30, 2027.

The Great Lakes College of Toronto (GLCT) is a private high school located in Toronto, Canada, established in 1978. It stands out as one of the few schools in Ontario offering five intakes per academic year. GLCT focuses on preparing students for higher education in North America.

GLCT provides diploma and certificate programs in business, technology, healthcare, and other fields. The school also offers personalized education tailored to meet individual student needs.

The college delivers both Canadian and international curriculums, with additional support for students learning English as a second language.

With five annual intakes and flexible entry dates, GLCT accommodates students based on their visa application status.

The college is situated in High Park North, close to downtown Toronto.

GLCT is certified and inspected by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

GLCT boasts a diverse student population representing over 60 countries.

Graduation Rates:
Over 90% of GLCT graduates secure admission into leading North American universities, with approximately 60% earning scholarships.

Fees:
Annual fees range from C$16,700 to C$22,700, with boarding options available.

As part of his duties, Prince Akanni will recruit qualified international students, assess applications and credentials to ensure they meet GLCT’s admission requirements, provide information, and respond to inquiries from prospective students and their families.

Speaking about his new role, Akanni shared his strategic plans to promote the college among African-Canadians, particularly individuals from West and East Africa. “Hopefully, before the first quarter of 2025, we would have recruited hundreds of reputable international students,”
The College has a very good track record, The Great Lake College is home to more than 20,000 students and 230,000 alumni with a wide variety of interests, ages and backgrounds, the college reflects the city’s dynamic mix of populations. Akanni stated.
