Two women have been arrested for the murder and dismemberment of a 53-year-old man in Washington, D.C. Tiffany Taylor Gray, 22, and Audrey Denise Miller, 19, are accused of killing Fasil Teklemariam, a married father of two, and using his severed thumb to steal money from his bank accounts.
According to court documents and police, Teklemariam was found dead in his apartment on April 5, 2024, with stab wounds, multiple blunt-force fractures to his head, and his right thumb missing. Broken glass and evidence of cleaning agents were found at the scene, suggesting an attempt to cover up the crime.
Investigators believe Teklemariam was killed on April 1, and surveillance footage shows Gray and Miller, along with two unidentified male suspects, entering and leaving Teklemariam’s apartment around that time. A witness told police that Gray, who worked as a sex worker, referred to Teklemariam as her “sugar daddy.”
The gruesome details of the case came to light when a witness informed police that Gray had used Teklemariam’s severed thumb to access his finance app and make purchases on Uber, marijuana, and alcohol. Teklemariam’s thumb and cell phone have not yet been recovered.
Gray was arrested in Maryland earlier this month on a warrant for first-degree murder while armed. Miller was also arrested and charged with the same crime. The two other male suspects are still under investigation.
Investigators say they were able to link the suspects to the crime through surveillance footage, a previous complaint filed by Teklemariam against Gray for stealing his phone and money, and a separate armed robbery case involving Gray.
