A massive fire erupted at the Christ Embassy Church headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos, early on Sunday morning, causing significant damage to the property.
The blaze, which started around 8 am, quickly engulfed the church’s main building along Kudirat Abiola Way, drawing a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA).
According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread rapidly, destroying property worth several millions of naira. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported, as worshippers who had gathered for the regular Sunday service managed to evacuate the premises safely.
Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident and praised the prompt action of the emergency responders. “This is to inform Lagosians to be calm. The fire at Christ Embassy Church headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, is under control right now,” she stated.
Adeseye added that as of the time of the report, no casualties had been recorded, and the rescue operation was ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the blaze. Church officials have not yet issued a statement on the incident.
