The reawakening of 17-year-old Poupog Kevin in Cameroon has left many shocked and confused. The teenager had been declared dead from drowning and was placed in a mortuary, but was found sitting outside the mortuary a week later.
Kevin had gone swimming at Bellevue Hotel in Douala, where he drowned on January 28. His body was then taken to the mortuary. However, eight days later, mortuary attendants discovered him sitting outside, wearing a white robe and underwear.
Head mortician Louis Maries Mbella was alerted by the security guard at the mortuary that the deceased young man had left his designated area. Upon approaching Kevin, Mbella realized it was the same person who had been brought in the week before.
Eyewitnesses reported that Kevin murmured the words, “Anne you promised me.” However, Kevin’s mother, Catherine Kouete, refused to believe the story, questioning how a dead body could move or speak. She expressed her suspicion that it was a setup.
Officials at the hospital have sent Kevin’s body back to the mortuary, raising further questions about what happened and whether there was any foul play involved.
