The Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Reverend Samson Ajetomobi, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for instituting a merit-based system in the state, saying it will enhance the quality of the workforce and prepare Oyo for a brighter future.

Speaking in an interview, Reverend Ajetomobi emphasized that Governor Makinde’s emphasis on merit in recruitment and appointments within critical sectors is a step in the right direction.

> “One of the things Governor Makinde has done, even in employment procedures, is to create space for merit,” he said. “We were not doing that before in the state. Now, people write exams, there are cut-off points. It doesn’t matter what religious affiliation you belong to. The question is: do you meet the cut-off point? If yes, you’re good to go. If not, too bad. Whether you are a Christian or a Muslim doesn’t matter.

The implication of this principle is that, in the near future, the quality of the workforce in Oyo State would have been largely improved because there are criteria that brought everyone on board.”

The PFN Chairman also praised the governor for his visible infrastructural achievements, stating:

> “God has helped Governor Makinde to put in place legacy projects across the state. His commitment to infrastructure development is obvious everywhere. If you enter Oyo State, you will feel the impact of a working governor.”

Reverend Ajetomobi further lauded the governor’s efforts in fostering peaceful coexistence among the various religious groups in the state, attributing it to his fairness and inclusive approach.
