Bishop Timothy Otu, who is also the General Overseer of a church named Agape Evangelical Ministeries, was arrested by officers of the Abia State Police Command after a married woman, who is also an evangelist was found dead in a hotel room with him in Aba, Abia State. The married Evangelist was said to be a mother of five children and she was identified as Evangelist Happiness Echezie.
It was reported that the Bishop and the evangelist lodged in a hotel located in Ogborhill in Aba, Abia Stage, where they met to have sex on Saturday, 11th August, 2023.
The Bishop tried to escape from the hotel after his married lover died. He lied to the receptionist that he wanted to go buy food, but the hotel manager suspected something was wrong and immediately reported the matter to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government Area around around 1am on Sunday morning. When the police came to the hotel, the woman was found lying naked in the hotel room with a foamy substance on her mouth and nose.
