A disturbing video has surfaced online showing a young woman, identified as Nancy, being brutally assaulted and humiliated by her friends in Bayelsa State over allegations that she had an affair with one of their boyfriends.
The footage, first shared by GistYentown, captures the shocking moment the victim was interrogated by a group of young women led by one identified as Kadi. In the clip, Nancy is seen seated while Kadi towers over her, hurling questions. Unsatisfied with her responses, Kadi repeatedly punches her on the head, drags her by the hair to the floor, and continues the assault.
The violence quickly escalates as other friends join in, stripping Nancy of her trousers and underwear. One of them stomps on her private region and kicks her repeatedly, accusing her of betrayal. At a point, Kadi brandishes a knife and cuts off part of Nancy’s hair extensions, while the victim appears to plead for mercy.
The video has since triggered widespread outrage across Bayelsa and beyond, with many Nigerians demanding the arrest and prosecution of the attackers. Social media users have unmasked the ringleader as Kadi, said to be in her early 20s, and accused her of orchestrating the torture out of jealousy.
Meanwhile, support has been pouring in for Nancy on her TikTok page, @PrettiestNancy, where sympathisers praised her beauty and condemned the assault as an act of envy.
As of the time of filing this report, it remains unclear whether the police have intervened or launched an investigation into the incident.
