According to the report on Channels Television News, the suspect said: “Whenever anyone calls me on the phone, she is always angry. I could not express myself. I can’t stay on the phone for more than 5 minutes when she is around, she will pick offence. She insults me. During all these periods, I believe the neighbours around know this because sometimes they do come out.”

On how they got into a fight which later led to her death, the suspect said that the deceased attacked him first and he had to defend himself. He said he did not know that the deceased had died several days after he hut her with a pestle.

He said: “When I came around, the argument started all over again about the car, why I sold it. It was at this point that she raised her voice. She started insulting me. She went to the sitting room, dropped her home theatre on me which I still defended.”

“It was the second time she came back with pestle, it was unintentional and I was angry. I snatched it away from her and shove her with it. When she was coming up, involuntarily I hit her with the pestle and that was when she fell down and started crying that why did I hit her.”

“When I left that morning, I packed the car with a friend and travelled to Port Harcourt. It was while I was in Port Harcourt that my friend told me that he can sell the car. In my own covetousness, I agreed that he should sell the car if he could get a buyer. The car was sold 2 days later and the money was sent to me on the third day. While all this was happening, I was not aware she was dead.”
