Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, revealed that the first sample of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the company’s newly launched refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, is noticeably clearer and more environmentally friendly than traditional petrol.
Speaking at a televised event from the refinery, Dangote explained that this new petrol’s clarity, reminiscent of water, indicates its superior quality. He noted that the refined petrol could significantly reduce health issues linked to contaminated petroleum products while also protecting vehicle and engine integrity.
“This is the sample of the petrol. You see it as a different colour, but that is the real deal. You are now going to have a good and genuine product,” Dangote stated. He emphasized that the refinery’s output is not just a product but a transformative step towards cleaner energy.
Furthermore, Dangote introduced Euro-5 diesel, a product touted for its minimal sulphur content—less than 10 parts per million (PPM)—which he claimed will extend the lifespan of vehicles and generators while promoting a healthier environment.
Highlighting the significance of the petrol’s transparency, the industrial magnate explained, “When petrol is clear, it indicates the use of ethanol, which enhances engine efficiency by reducing carbon emissions. This is the best form of petrol.”
