A 34-year-old woman was shot and killed in Florida during a Facebook Live altercation after leaving her children at home to confront an online rival. The victim, identified as Martin, told her kids, “I’ll be right back,” before heading out to settle a dispute with another woman she had been arguing with on social media.
Upon arriving at the location, Martin quickly engaged in a physical confrontation with her opponent, identified as Tyler. Witnesses report that Martin had just thrown a few punches when she was shot. Tyler claimed that she used her firearm in self-defense after Martin allegedly snatched a baseball bat from her and advanced towards her.
In the aftermath of the incident, Tyler was taken into police custody and faces charges of premeditated murder. Additionally, a friend who recorded the confrontation and livestreamed it has also turned herself in to authorities.
The shocking events unfolded in front of a live audience on social media and have raised concerns about the dangers of online conflicts escalating into real-life violence. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
