Renowned gospel singer and radio talk show host, Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, has passed away. He died on Saturday, April 19, 2025, after a brief illness. He had celebrated his 50th birthday in November 2024.
His family confirmed the sad news in an official statement, saying:
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B’ — a beloved father, husband, brother, ordained pastor, and a prominent figure in the gospel music industry.
Bolaji passed away on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a brief illness.
His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives. Bolaji’s journey was marked by his unwavering faith, passion for music, and his commitment to uplifting those around him. His legacy lives on in the melodies he shared and the countless lives he impacted.
Details regarding funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course. We appreciate your prayers and respect for our privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”
Big Bolaji was widely respected in gospel music circles and Christian ministry. For several years, he hosted the popular annual gospel concert “Turn It Up With Big Bolaji” in Ibadan.
Originally from Osun State but raised in Ibadan, he trained as a certified estate surveyor. His spiritual journey began at The Sword of the Spirit Ministries under Bishop Francis Wale Oke, and he later became an ordained minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). He also served as a board member of the Living Spring Music Festival.
Big Bolaji’s vibrant presence, both on stage and in ministry, will be sorely missed.
