The Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State and former Commissioner for Education, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned physicist, Prof. Idowu Peter Farai.

In a heartfelt tribute, Olowofela recalled Prof. Farai’s remarkable contributions to academia, particularly at the University of Ibadan, where he served for four decades.

“I was devastated when I heard about the death of Prof. Idowu Peter Farai,” Olowofela said. “He delivered his inaugural lecture at the University of Ibadan in 2021 and his valedictory lecture in 2024, the same year he retired after 40 years of dedicated service. He successfully supervised numerous Ph.D. students and will be remembered for his camaraderie and deep love for Physics and the University of Ibadan.”
