Chief Yekinni Adeojo, a prominent businessman, politician, and former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died. He passed away in the early hours of Friday at his residence in the Iyaganku Government Reserved Area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Adeojo, who held the revered traditional title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, was a founding member of the PDP in Oyo State and a respected figure in both political and religious circles. He was also a gubernatorial candidate in the 1999 elections under the PDP, where he lost to the late Alhaji Lamidi Adesina of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

Born and raised in Ibadan, Chief Adeojo was widely regarded for his contributions to the political development of the state and his role in shaping the PDP’s early years in the South-West. His death marks the end of an era for many in the state who viewed him as a stabilizing force in local politics.

He is survived by his children, including Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, the current Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government Area.

As of press time, the cause of death had not been officially disclosed, but family sources confirmed that burial arrangements are underway and that he will be laid to rest in Ibadan later on Friday according to Islamic rites.

A formal statement from the family is expected soon.
