The Oyo State Advisory Council has lauded Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for his unwavering commitment to road infrastructure development, particularly the ongoing construction of the 110-kilometre Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road in Ibadan.

Chairman of the Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN), gave the commendation on Wednesday during an inspection tour of the legacy project. He praised the quality and pace of the work, describing it as a major step towards unlocking economic opportunities and easing traffic congestion within the Ibadan metropolis.

Ayorinde said the Circular Road, which is already transforming the surrounding landscape, is opening up new towns and creating avenues for real estate and hospitality growth.

“This is a legacy project. Though conceived by previous administrations, Governor Makinde is the one bringing it to life,” he said. “We are satisfied with the intensity of the work and the quality being delivered. It will serve as a major arterial route, connecting Oyo to other states and reducing the pressure on the city centre.”

He emphasized the road’s economic significance, noting that travellers passing through Ibadan would no longer need to drive into the city unless necessary, which would drastically reduce urban congestion and improve transit efficiency.

The Council urged residents to take ownership of the project upon completion, ensuring its maintenance and sustainability.

“This government has delivered for the people, and the people must also rise to preserve this infrastructure. It should remain a super highway that is well cared for,” Ayorinde added.

The inspection team was led through sections of the project from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway through Oluyole, Ona-Ara, and Egbeda Local Government Areas by the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, Hon. Mojeed Mogbojubola.

Other members of the Advisory Council on the tour included Hon. (Chief) Babatunde Oduyoye, Alhaji Bashir Ajibade, Chief Adewale Atande (Alase), Hon. Abiola Ajaja, Dr. Aderemi Ayodele, Pastor Akinade Alamu, and Alhaji Rasak Gbadegesin.
