In a candid interview, veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has opened up about a painful ordeal he faced, revealing how he was neglected by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and abandoned by his family and colleagues during his struggles.
Anuku’s troubles began when a video of him preparing for a movie role, where he played a mentally disturbed character, was misinterpreted. This led to unfounded rumors of drug addiction and a mental breakdown.
Despite Anuku’s attempts to explain the situation, his family, including his twin brother and wife, believed the rumors, causing him immense pain and leaving him feeling lonely and isolated.
To make matters worse, the AGN and his colleagues in the industry also shunned him, cutting off communication and refusing to offer him any work opportunities.
Anuku, however, credited his resilience and unwavering faith in God for helping him overcome the challenges he faced. He is now gradually rebuilding his life and career, finding solace in his gradual return to his former self.
