Veteran Yoruba actor Razaq Olayiwola, popularly known as Ojopagogo, has paid an emotional tribute to his late wife, Funmilayo Akanke Olayiwola, marking the 25th anniversary of her passing.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Ojopagogo remembered Funmilayo as not just his wife but his unwavering pillar of support, describing her as “my supporter, my friend, my love, my everything.”
Funmilayo Akanke, a fellow performer known for her work as a singer, dancer, and actress, passed away on May 21, 2000. Recalling their time together, the actor emphasized the profound role she played in his life and career.
“Some people may be wondering who this woman is — only family, fans, and friends from way back can relate. She is the true definition of ‘behind the success of a man there must be a woman’ — and this is the woman,” he wrote.
Ojopagogo continued, “Her name is Olayiwola Funmilayo Akanke, née Inawole — my partner in everything. She left us in May 2000, and it still feels like yesterday. Rest on, Akanke mi.”
