Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu, a Nigeria-based politician and businessman currently residing in Germany, has announced his intentions to seek the gubernatorial seat in Oyo State. He aims to further the legacy of the current Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, should he be elected as his successor.

Olayinka Segelu has expressed a strong commitment to the political and democratic advancement of Oyo State. During a press conference on Wednesday, he articulated his vision of prioritizing the welfare of the less privileged and fostering economic growth in the state.

“My life has been shaped by profound experiences, including the loss of my father—a dedicated public servant whose legacy inspires me daily,” Oladimeji said. “I believe my youthful energy and determination prepare me to confront the challenges ahead and to build upon the solid foundation laid by the current administration under Engr. Seyi Makinde.”

Oladimeji holds a B.Sc in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Abuja and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Political Analysis at the same institution. He is confident that his diverse background in ICT, engineering, and agriculture positions him uniquely to lead Oyo State into a prosperous future.

His experience as a political appointee in the National Assembly, coupled with his work in various sectors, has reinforced his passion for effective governance. “My vision for Oyo State focuses on essential areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, economic advancement, healthcare, social welfare, transportation, and human capacity development,” he stated. “I am determined to establish robust institutions that empower our people and reduce reliance on federal allocations.”

Born on August 4, 1982, Oladimeji’s early education includes attending Army Children’s School in Ibadan, followed by Lagelu Grammar School and Unity School in Ejigbo, Osun State. He began his political career as a Legislative Assistant to his father prior to the latter’s assassination, later serving prominent figures in the House of Representatives.

Oladimeji has previously contested for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 and 2023. Now, as an entrepreneur and the CEO of multiple ventures, including Yseg Hotels and Suites and Yseg International School, he is actively pursuing opportunities to serve his community through his charitable organization, Igbega Communities Support Organisation (ICSO), and Igbega FM Nigeria.

With a blend of personal history, educational credentials, and professional expertise, Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu seeks to lead Oyo State into a new era marked by prosperity and social equity.
